Contact me about this Painting
As I embarked on creating this painting, my aim was to capture one of the most significant moments in the life of the Jewish people – the ascent to the ancient temple in Jerusalem. This event occurred three times a year: during Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot. Thousands of people from all over Israel would gather on the Mount of Olives to greet the dawn before the sacred walls of the temple.
In my painting, you can see pilgrims standing atop the mountain, eagerly awaiting the first rays of sunlight. Before them lies a view of Jerusalem and the magnificent temple, glowing in all its splendor. The pilgrims carry sacred animals with them, preparing to make offerings in the temple.
Each of them feels the significance of this moment in their lives. Their faces are filled with joy and awe at the sight of this sacred place. The pilgrims’ hands are raised in exaltation before the majesty of the temple, and their eyes are filled with reverence and joy. For me, this painting was an attempt to capture the importance and grandeur of this moment for every Jew. I tried to convey the joy and awe felt by those standing on the Mount of Olives, ready to enter the sacred walls of the temple and make their offerings.
