I fell in love with Tel Aviv not right away. This is not a love at first sight. For me, Tel Aviv was just a city. I have always loved Jerusalem and Venice very much, and never thought that I would fall in love and start painting Tel Aviv. It all started with the fact that I was commissioned a series of paintings about Tel Aviv for the 100th anniversary of the city, which was celebrated in 2009. I walked around the city and took a fresh look at familiar places. I suddenly realized that Tel Aviv was very handsome and that a very interesting series of paintings could be made. At first I completed 5 painting … Now I am constantly painting this city.
You have to fall in love with Tel Aviv. There are incredibly beautiful places here – it is not for nothing that it is included in the UNESCO list as a “White City”! Only here are houses in the Bauhaus style preserved. Rothschild Street is to me like Giverny to Monet. You can paint Tel Aviv all your life on the theme of this street – it is different every time! Neve Tzedek district – the first district of Tel Aviv … There are many very beautiful buildings, now they all being restored.
