When I painted this piece, I wanted to convey something far greater than just an image of the Western Wall. For me, Jerusalem is not merely a place; it is a feeling, an emotion that cannot be put into words. Here, light and shadows intertwine, eternal joy and sorrow coexist, and history merges with timelessness.

As I looked at the canvas, I envisioned a golden light cascading from above, flowing like an endless stream. This light is not just color or texture; it symbolizes faith, a force that lives within everyone who comes here to pray. I tried to portray it as dynamic, flowing downward from the heavens and filling the space near the Wall, penetrating the hearts of those who gather here.

The praying figures, painted in muted tones, appear almost ghostly. Their faces are undefined because, at the Wall, every person dissolves into their thoughts, prayers, and tears. I have seen people touch the stones, close their eyes, and embark on a journey within themselves. It is a moment when all that is unnecessary fades, leaving only the individual and the Divine.

Jerusalem has always been a city of contrasts. Ancient stones whisper stories of thousands of years, yet every step here feels like something new. This city is a living entity, where each generation leaves its mark. I aimed to capture this sense of eternity and renewal through the interplay of gold and gray. The gold represents light, spirituality, and divine promise, while the gray symbolizes memory, human shadows, and the stories that never fade.

Painting this piece felt like a prayer. Every brushstroke was filled with thoughts about this place, its significance, and the people who find solace here. I know that Jerusalem speaks to each heart differently. For some, it is a city of hope; for others, a city of trials. Yet, for everyone, it remains holy.

Now, when I look at this work, I feel the golden stream still flowing. It does not stop at the edges of the canvas but extends beyond, filling the space around it. I wanted anyone who sees this painting to feel that light and ask themselves: What mark does Jerusalem leave on my heart?

Jerusalem is not just a city. It is a prayer that never ends.
