Description

Stolen Childhood painting is available as a reproduction on canvas and metal in 2 options: limited and open edition.

– Limited edition on canvas comes hand embellished, framed, numbered and signed by Alex Levin. This edition is limited to only 25 signed prints that ever will be published. This makes it more unique and collectable. Once that specific print run sells out, there will be no other editions of that image made by the artist.
– Open edition available on canvas or metal. Canvas comes fully framed and has a traditional, classic look. Metal edition made from high-quality aluminum. It has a modern and contemporary look. Reflects light and enhances the colors in the artwork.

Both the limited and open editions are ready-to-hang wall art. The canvas reproduction arrives beautifully stretched and elegantly framed to add a touch of sophistication to your space, ready for hanging on your wall.
Each reproduction is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, ensuring that you receive an original and authentic piece of art.

You can bring back everything, almost everything, to be exact, – money, fame, glory, a beloved person, you can even restore your fading health.

However, you cannot bring back time.

Especially if we are talking about childhood.

The childhood of a Jewish kid was always special, even if he was brought up in a “civilized” European country.

Each family kept “cult objects”, pictures of grandfather-rabbi, pious grandmothers in kerchiefs and caps.

These people had seemed sweet but not modern – until the day when prophecies from their books, predictions of a collapse, if the Jews finally leave their traditions, did not begin to come true.

On the artist’s canvas, the sky is turning to stone and falling apart – like a ceiling of a house that has just been hit by a bomb.

The land – the sweet land of cozy Europe – is turning into stone and tearing apart under feet.

A symbol of coziness – a baby cradle and toys – are hanging over the abyss and it seems that a toy train departs for the gates with the inscription “Work sets you free!” (“Arbeit machts frei!”) any minute now.

And only a solid steady pile of books at the background of the painting suddenly brings back hope.

Have all these books been read, have all the predestinations from them been learnt?

Because sages had warned about the Catastrophe, had said that prosperity in the countries of exile could not last forever.

Nobody had listened to them, although those who survived returned to the Jewish country and restored it…

And there are still the same Jewish letters – this time on children’s bricks, where the eternal “aleph” denoting the truth (“emet”) does not let us forget that the truth will always win!
